L’Artisan Parfumeur L’Eau de L’Artisan – Scented Review

"A countryside picnic on a lazy summer's day. The refreshing coolness of mint tea, with aromatic citrus accents. L’Eau de L’Artisan is best described as a classic Eau de Cologne with a dash of modern savoir faire. It is both sophisticated and timeless. This tonic blend is refreshing with a twist of herbs and moss. The green qualities of this scent capture the early morning freshness of a summer’s day in the country with its dewy grass, stacks of hay and vast misty skies. The perfect companion to a lazy summer’s day. " The official description on the L’Artisan Parfumeur Official Website

L'Artisan Parfumeur L’Eau de L’Artisan is vibrantly fresh and bright with a beautiful composition.
What I personally love about L’Eau de L’Artisan is the way all of the notes blend together and how they play equal parts, there is not just one note that is predominant, but all of the notes are part of the same “team” and dance together in a circle. Though linear until the end, L’Eau de L’Artisan is very harmonious. L’Eau de L’Artisan performs better on a scorching day with great persistence.

“L’Eau de L’Artisan is best described as a classic Eau de Cologne with a dash of modern savoir faire.”  I personally do not agree with L’Artisan Parfumeur’s official description. L’Eau de L’Artisan stands on its own, it is entirely in a league of its own and in my scented opinion, the resemblance is minimal.
My guess is that it should have an “Eau de Cologne” vibe due to the citric note. A citric note that blends well in the background among the other herbal notes when it comes to L'Artisan Parfumeur L’Eau de L’Artisan. I shall use a metaphor to explain what I mean. We have a choir, all the voice blend in complete harmony, much in the same way the notes of L’Eau de L’Artisan do. We have another choir that is also harmonious but it has a solo act that claims the spotlight during the concert, in the same way, the citric notes do in a Cologne. I wrote this metaphor with the movie “Les Choristes/The Chorus” in mind because it was the perfect example for this metaphor. I will be completely off topic and advice you to watch this heart-warming movie that is also a delight for the ears.

Les Choristes - La Nuit

L'Eau de L'Artisan is no Modern twist Cologne. Unlike Dior's Escale à Portofino that fully embodies the concept of Eau de Cologne and it is marketed as a fragrance for women though it is actually unisex. Escale a Portofino can be indeed called a Cologne even if it is not marketed as such.

Let's talk about the packaging

Somehow I feel L'Artisan Parfumeur L'Eau de L'Artisan slips under the radar, olfactory speaking and I believe it deserves more attention. I got my bottle by chance, and in case you were wondering why I chose a photo of an older bottle, it is because this is how my bottle looks. L'Artisan Parfumeur has updated the bottle design for its fragrances and made them look all modern. The newer bottles have a black hexagonal cap and a darker bottle. My bottle has the earlier design with the round cap and the rounder, slightly bulkier bottle. I believe my bottle it is probably from the early 2000's but there is no certainty and I am not an L'Artisan Parfumeur expert in any way, shape or form.

Since I love pairing scents with music, art, films, etc. L'Eau de L'Artisan reflects the song "Summertime" composed by George Gershwin for the 1935 opera "Porgy and Bess", in the jazz interpretation of the great couple Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. It fits perfectly with Louis's smooth trumpet and Ella's warm vocals.

Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong - Summertime

L'Artisan Parfumeur L’Eau de L’Artisan pictures that late summer day that still runs hot and needs to be cooled down with elegance, refinement and grace.

In the end, I would like to add a small advice to my Dear Reader. Perfume is like a work of art, it strikes different chords within each individual. The interpretation of a work of art is very personal, profound and unique for each and every human being. If possible, test a perfume for yourself after reading a review. Also, do not forget to Love, Enjoy and Wear your Perfume of choice Proudly.
