Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Nectar - Scented Review

Flowerbomb Nectar is a new chapter of the Flowerbomb story: a sensual and intense version of the iconic fragrance, reaching into the heart of the floral bouquet. The official description on the Viktor&Rolf Official Website.

Name: Flowerbomb Nectar
Brand: Viktor & Rolf
Concentration: Eau de Parfum
Year of launching: 2018
Production: In production
Persistence: Great
Sillage: Great
Notes:
Top notes: Blackcurrant bud absolute, Bergamot blend, a Smoky note of Gunpowder
Heart notes: Orange Flower absolute, Osmanthus absolute
Base notes: Vanilla, Amber, Benzoin
*The perfume notes have been written as described on the Viktor&Rolf Official Website.

In the beginning, some floral notes butt heads and to my nose it smells like somebody dropped some Star Anise and some Licorice among the Candies. Maybe this should be the Gunpowder note as it does smell distracting, a little strange and at times it can smell rather medicinal but luckily it does not last long.

Flowerbomb Nectar is a sweeter version of the original Flowerbomb with a thick layer of berry jam or berry confiture spread all over the fragrance. The sweet and sometimes syrupy note of berries is present among the top notes, the middle notes and base notes. Flowerbomb Nectar has in its base , a lingering note of sweet dry berries and a faint trace of Amber.

Flowerbomb Nectar has a stronger concentration of Candies than the original Flowerbomb and a sticky Cotton Candy vibe at times. My nose did not smell any Patchouli in Flowerbomb Nectar. So… if one hates Patchouli and has avoided the original Flowerbomb for this very reason could give this one a try.

Let's talk about the packaging:
The bottle is shaped, and I quote, as a “Diamond Grenade”. Every time I see Flowerbomb Nectar’s bottle I can’t stop thinking it looks squashed. One might forget the regular Flowerbomb bottle on the sofa and by mistake just casually sit on it. It can happen! Luckily the bottle won't be squashed or seriously damaged. I'm guessing this is how Flowerbomb Nectar's bottle was created. All jokes aside, Flowerbomb Nectar's bottle looks better in reality than in photos.

Flowerbomb Nectar is marketed as the Intense version of the original Flowerbomb... But is it really that "Intense"? Well... If by "Intense" one understands Sweeter, Flowerbomb Nectar is a lot a more Intense but on the Sugary side of Intense. In my humble opinion, Flowerbomb Nectar falls into the category of flankers, so it's basically a flanker disguised as the "Intense" version. I consider Flowerbomb Nectar a flanker because it retains a slight resemblance to the original Flowerbomb but it's a sweeter Flowerbomb with a Fruity twist and it lacks the main Patchouli note that could have brought it even closer to the original.

Chaka Khan - Like Sugar

In the end, I would like to add a small advice to my Dear Reader. Perfume is like a work of art, it strikes different chords within each individual. The interpretation of a work of art is very personal, profound and unique for each and every human being. If possible, test a perfume for yourself after reading a review. Also, do not forget to Love, Enjoy and Wear your Perfume of choice Proudly.

  1. Great review and loved the inclusion of Chaka Khan! Hope it's not too sweet, as I liked the original Flowerbomb for getting it just right.
