Givenchy Organza Indecence Eau de Toilette Du Desert - Scented Review

Organza Indecence Eau de Toilette Du Desert can be used as a Summer version of the beloved Organza Indecence. With a lighter spirit, it is a Younger Sister, relaxed and much more subtle.

Name: Organza Indécence Eau de Toilette Du Désert
Brand: Givenchy
Concentration: Eau de Toilette
Production: Discontinued
Persistence: Good towards Moderate
Sillage: Good towards Moderate

Much love and adoration exist for Organza Indecence, but not much is known about the elusive Organza Indecence Eau de Toilette Du Desert. Not really that popular to be considered important. I am going to call it Organza Indecence Du Desert at times because it’s a long name and all that emphasis on “Eau de Toilette”, while very correct, makes the name too long for my likings.

Let me start at the beginning, back in March of 2016 when I first got my bottle. I scored it a very good price thinking it was the Organza Indecence Eau de Parfum we all know and love. I had a bit of a surprise to find it was not what I expected and that I blissfully unaware of Organza Indécence Eau de Toilette Du Désert existence until the moment I got my hands a bottle. Back when I got my bottle, apart from some bottles on eBay there was no information available and there still isn’t much information as we speak/read. While in November of 2016 it was listed by Parfumo and by Fragrantica (I am not sure exactly when) with a photo and notes. To my nose, Organza Indecence Du Desert smells very similar to the original, but we shall delve into discussing this perfume a little later.

I am going to go on a limb here and say that I believe Organza Indecence Eau de Toilette Du Desert was created and intended to appeal to the Oriental market. The packaging hints towards that, the white packaging with the oriental motifs at least. But there is also a box with different shades of blue, like the box I own, so there are two variations of the packaging for the same product. I also believe that it could have been intended to be a summer version.

To my surprise, there is also Organza Eau de Toilette Du Desert, so this “Eau de Toilette Du Desert” variation exists for both Organza Indecence and Organza. A seller on eBay posted a photo of the back of Organza Eau de Toilette Du Desert box and this text is visible: “Parfums Givenchy invites you to discover a new aspect of Organza. Like a refreshing breeze on your skin, the Desert Eau de Toilette exhales the Organza fragrance, with its light subtle notes of white Gardenia.” I believe this confirms that the “Eau de Toilette Du Desert” can actually be a summer variation for their respective originals: Organza and Organza Indecence.

Now… let’s talk about the actual fragrance. Organza Indecence Eau de Toilette Du Desert is more Eau Fraîche in concentration in my humble opinion. It is very light, initially has a good sillage, but it will settle into a sillage that is not quite close to the skin but not weak either. In my humble opinion, it smells lighter because it’s meant for a warmer climate or even for summer. I have worn it during Summer, it’s really friendly, pleasant with a decent lasting power.
A Summer Afternoon (Zomernamiddag)

Organza Indecence Du Desert is not a flanker, in my opinion, smells like Organza Indecence with one major key difference - it has a stronger Cinnamon note. The Cinnamon note can smell dry and cold at times, the Vanilla note is not as creamy, the Rose Wood note is a lot more potent at times. The Cinnamon note we know from the original sometimes has the tendency to dominate the composition. From time to time it can smell like vintage creamy makeup, but most of the time it smells like a very tame and I dare say watered down Organza Indecence. It is a Shadow of the original, good for summer but to me at least it brings no real satisfaction. I really wished it was closer to the original Organza Indecence. It feels like it lacks the soul the original, lacks the elegance and smells more relaxed than elegant. Organza Indecence Eau de Toilette Du Desert just lacks something vital the original had, feels stripped of its core, while it has some creaminess, it is not as well rounded and balanced. It lacks the “Indecence”, the “Indecent”. Organza Indecence Du Desert feels like the younger, not yet fully mature sister of Organza Indecence.
Let's talk about the packaging:

The bottle looks exactly like the original with the exception that it has an “Eau de Toilette” sticker on the bottle and the colour of the juice inside the bottle is lighter and when I say lighter I mean about one or two shades lighter than the original. Do pay attention when searching for a bottle of the original Organza Indecence as you might wind up with this one by mistake. One cannot tell the difference just from the bottle. Pay attention to the details on the bottom of the bottle if it does not come with a box. If one desires a lighter Organza Indecence for summer or just wishes to “Catch ’Em All” (Pokemon style), one can give Organza Indécence Eau de Toilette Du Désert a chance.

In the end, I would like to add a small advice to my Dear Reader. Perfume is like a work of art, it strikes different chords within each individual. The interpretation of a work of art is very personal, profound and unique for each and every human being. If possible, test a perfume for yourself after reading a review. Also, do not forget to Love, Enjoy and Wear your Perfume of choice Proudly.
