Eaux de Caron Pure is a Citric fragrance with Nutmeg sprinkled on top, a fruity hint, a Woodsy undertone and also a Woodsy base. Not a complicated fragrance, quite straightforward, pleasant and easy on the senses, energetic, fresh but still keeps a certain elegance.

Caron Eaux de Caron Pure, in my opinion, has a 90's vibe, somewhere in between the late 90’s and the early 2000’s.  As a child of the 90's I have smelled this specific kind of citric scent with a pinch of spice (Nutmeg) on the men around me. I remember clearly smelling this kind of scent on men, and Laura Biagiotti Venezia on women. I'm not stating all men were wearing Eaux de Caron Pure but something very similar or at least in the same citric range. For me, this scent represents the 90's, because of this Lemon-Nutmeg-Wood scent, with a casual but elegant feel to it. Caron Eaux de Caron Pure is a hybrid between a fragrance that could be worn on a daily basis and a fragrance with a sort of elegance and freshness suitable for a more stylish event.

Calvin Klein One was launched in 1994 before Caron Eaux de Caron Pure, and also follows the Lemon-Nutmeg-Wood recipe. Unlike Eaux de Caron Pure, One could never really get over its very casual self.

Let's talk about the packaging:

I love the simple bottle and the pattern of "dots" with the "CARON" logo in the middle. Both box and perfume sport the same dotted pattern and they share the same blue colour but with different shades, the juice inside the bottle is light blue.

Caron Eaux de Caron Pure is now discontinued but it has been reformulated and relaunched back in 2014 under the name Caron L’Eau Pure. The Caron Parfums Official Website provides with the following information and notes: “L’Eau Pure is born anew, its original formula modernised by the House’s perfumer, Richard Fraysse. L’Eau Pure is a fresh and natural interlude, a burst of citrus zest with a blend of Bergamot and lime, a pure heart revealing woody and spicy notes of nutmeg and cedar for a uniquely soft and woody scent. Like a second skin, the new Eaux de Caron collection wraps you in a discreet and delicate veil of freshness that soon you won’t be able to resist.

The original formula has received an update and therefore it has been modernized. I do not know how much it has been modernized, judging by the notes and the description, the changes do not seem to be so big. I have not tried or smelled Caron L’Eau Pure, thus I do not find myself in a position that allows further comments. The elements that have indeed changed in a dramatic way are the bottle and the name. Caron L’Eau Pure has a simpler and modern bottle but has kept the light blue colour of the old perfume.

In the end, Caron has simplified and modernized the name, the bottle and the fragrance.
Caron Eaux de Caron Pure is now Caron L’Eau Pure. I believe Eaux de Caron Pure could have survived in our modern times in the old formula, in the old bottle with the old name due to the simple fact that it is a good Lemon scent.

For the late 90’s and the beginning of the 2000’s scent I could only pick a cover song that was stretched across 1999 and 2000.

In the end, I would like to add a small advice to my Dear Reader. Perfume is like a work of art, it strikes different chords within each individual. The interpretation of a work of art is very personal, profound and unique for each and every human being. If possible, test a perfume for yourself after reading a review. Also, do not forget to Love, Enjoy and Wear your Perfume of choice Proudly.

What is your favorite 90's fragrance? Let me know in the comment section.
